National Librarian’s Day

Library Department of Bhavna Trust College celebrated National Librarian’s Day and 130th Birth Anniversary of Dr. S.R. Ranganathan (Father of Library Movement in India) on 12 August 2022. On the occasion Special book Display of its own library collection on theme “Reference Books” was displayed.

National Librarian’s Day is observed on 12th August every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Padmashri Dr. S.R. Ranganathan (1892-1972), who is considered as father of library science in India. Dr. Ranganathan dedicated his entire life to library profession in India leaving a rich legacy.

The portrait of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan was garlanded by Dr. Aruna Singham, Principal of the College, and spoke on this program that students must read reference books and competitive examination and career guidance books other than their syllabus to find the better job.

College Librarian Mrs.Yamuna Gorde welcomed the gathering and briefed about librarianship in India.

Mrs. Ritu Sharma, Faculty (Department of IT/CS) highlighted the importance of libraries in higher education system. A small quiz for the students was conducted on the topic sources of information. Mrs. Ritu Sharma gave the vote of thanks.
