‘FLOOD RELIEF MATERIAL COLLECTION AND DESPATCH DRIVE’

The NSS unit of Bhavna Trust College of Commerce & B.Sc. Computer Science, Deonar collected nearly 700 kgs of relief material for the flood victims of the flood affected areas of Kolhapir, Sangli and Satara. The Management, Professors and the Students contributed whole heartedly for the donation drive. No cash donations were accepted ,only relief material in the form of rice bags, toor daal, wheat flour bags, edible oil bags, soaps, biscuits, noodles, milk bags, medicines were collected. During this donation drive Bhavna Trust College of Commerce & B.Sc. Computer Science, Deonar was appointed as collection and storage centre by university of Mumbai NSS department . accordingly all the relief material collected from the colleges of Mumbai Central and Navi Mumbai District were collected and stored in safe custody of the college.


 Mumbai Central and Navi Mumbai District under NSS Cell  of Mumbai University on 21st August 2019 sent approximately 6000 Kgs relief material to Kurundwad, Shirole, Kolhapur. The relief material included
1. Food grains (Rice, Wheat flour, daal, masala)
2. Medicines
3. Toiletries
4. Dry Foods such as biscuits/chikki/rajgira ladoos
5. Cooking Oil
6. Sanitary pads
7. Clothes
8. Utensils

The relief material was collected at the knowledge resource centre of  Bhavna Trust College of Commerce & B.Sc. Computer Science. The  Hon’ble Chairman of the college Shri. Jayant Bhawsar sir  and Principal  Prof. Ritu Sharma  made excellent arrangements for collection and storage of relief materials and transported to Kolhapur.

The collection was possible due to efforts of students and the Programme Officers of all the colleges. Due to support of Management and Principals of all the colleges, the collection could take place in record time.

The entire collection drive was possible due to guidance and support of Sudhir Puranik Sir, Director NSS.  and Area Coordinators Shri. R. Kathiresan, Dr. Ram Bhise,  Mrs. Kanchan Lotale, District CoordinatorShri. Nikhil Karkhanis
